Further proof that Labour is biased towards London.

Precisely when are Labour supporters in the North West, North East, Wales, etc. supposed to see all five candidates other than on Newsnight?

I thought we were supposed to be learning lessons from our election defeat?

Southport wasn't a lot of good if you weren't a union delegate - so I hope they will be coming to the most loyal city on a Parliamentary level - LIVERPOOL!

But we won't make it ewasy for any of them, as we're not like that.
Mike Homfray @ 12 weeks ago
So you only really have a chance of assessing the candidates if you live in London.

Why is this not being addressed?
Howard Walker @ 12 weeks and 2 days ago
No hustings in the south west? Shame on you. At least there's one in Scotland, however, Glasgow is over 2 hours drive from me, and is, I would suggest a Labour stronghold instead of taking the message into the areas we need to win back.
John Ruddy @ 12 weeks and 3 days ago
Alex does say right at the beginning that more dates are likely and he will be updating us asap. I would hope that as all the candidates keep saying 'we weren't listening', 'we lost touch', 'weren't on their side', then they should make sure we go and have debates right in these areas of discontent as well. I live in the South East (outside London) and I note there are no hustings here either yet. This is like a golden opportunity to show voters around the country that Labour has taken on board the painful truths of the 2010 Election and like a phoenix has arisen a better and wiser party which offers the only genuine people first alternative to the Conservatives and their 'if it isn't hurting it's not working ' philosphy.

Saturday, July 17th, 3.30pm -- Unions 21 Hustings, South West
Alex Smith @ 12 weeks and 3 days ago
got to say this is some schedule for them, they will be well and truly knackered at the end of this !
ian robathan @ 11 weeks and 2 days ago
Where do you apply for tickets
Chris Inchley @ 11 weeks and 2 days ago
I'd have a look on the website of each organisation, or if it's an official Labour one, call the party at Victoria Street -- they should be able to tell you.
Alex Smith @ 11 weeks and 2 days ago
Seems like the South West doesn't matter - come on get out to where people are rather than concentrating on London!
Chris Penberthy @ 13 weeks and 1 day ago
Only 1 hustings in Wales? That's ridiculous. These hustings should take place all over the country and especially in Labour heartlands like South Wales!

I know its a pain getting on a train and traveling all of 2 hours to get to the provinces but we need to have our say!
Nadeem Backus @ 13 weeks and 1 day ago
Colleagues,

11 opportunities to attend hustings in London, 10 in the rest of the country. Most national organisations have organised their hustings in London. I thought most candidates stated that there was a need to re-connect.

Alex,

Is it possible to solicit the candidates views on the actions of the Israeli Government in storming the humanitarian aid convoy to Gaza? Remember Labour is an internationalist party or at least it was when I joined.

Right, so if my maths is correct, there are 21 husting, over half of which are in London.

I mean it's not as if over half the British population live in London, is it?

Let's have some more balance, folks.

Could I suggest Carlisle as a suitably strategic location for a hustings? Key marginal easily accessible by road and rail to people across the north of England and Scotland.
Rachel Stalker @ 13 weeks and 1 day ago
I thought the exact same thing, Rachel but this is typical of left-leaning think-tanks and campaign groups. The Labour heartland is in the North and yet the campaign groups are almost always in the South.

But then isn't that the case with most things?
Howard Walker @ 13 weeks and 1 day ago
Also...the only hustings in the East Midlands is the BAME hustings in Leicester.

And there are no hustings at all in East Anglia.

Labour did really really badly in the East Midlands/East Anglia largely amongst white British communities and lost LOADS of seats - yet there aren't any hustings accessible to them.
Rachel Stalker @ 13 weeks and 1 day ago
The number of London Husting immediatly struck me. There are only two in the North West for the number of members and the support Labour still attracts in this region, that is extremely poor so far.

Having said that i've seen at first hand the lack of organisation the Party suffers up here. Hardly surprising a Trade Union had to sort one out.
