I do think both main parties are ill-advised to try to be holier-than-thou on things like crime, and personal morality. Just to win approval from the Mail and Express readership.
For example, for all his talk of "Broken Britain", Cameron should remember the Bulger case was on his parties watch, and so, given the depravity of the culprits, if society is broken now it was
broken then. But to take this case a stage further: not talking about what one of the two has or has not done in recent times, there was a good deal of evidence at the time of this case that even at
the age of ten these two boys had sado-masochistic tendencies of a homosexual nature (to give one example from the evidence in chief, the two boys had earlier tried to lure away another small child
of the male sex. When they got hold of poor Jamie - lets not forget he was only 2 years of age - they subjected himto some horrific ordeals, including inserting batteries into his back passage). Was
the Home Secretary right to release these two lads on licence when they had served only 8 years and were still teenagers - I know these matters are not pleasant to discuss), but given they had such
sexual abberations at 10, by the time they were 18 their imaginations and inclinations would have been reaching a peak: this is NOT meant as an attack on gays young or old, but this crime was
pequlairly replusive. Of course we know that most gay men of whatever age wouldn't have such sick perversions), but if you were Mrs Bulger, would you have any faith in labour's ideas on crime and
pounishment?
To take a slightly less contraversial case, does Jack Straw really feel proud of himself that people who have never been found guilty of crimes languish behind bars, yet he was more than happy to let
that wicked old dictator General Pinochet escape punishment.
Both main parties have made appalling decisions in all areas of policy, and to pretend one has some moral goodness over the other is otiose. Also, do we really want another hairy-chested Dutch
auction over who is tougher than whom like we had over Freud?

So would our leadership stop blaming Mrs Thatcher ? Or would the torys stop blaming our leadership in the late 70s? Our partys are so removed from reallity that the partys are proberly the minority
.
The video makes an implicit claim that a DNA database will solve or prevent crime in a significant manner.
Not to mention that the European court of human rights told the UK that the retention of the DNA of innocent people was not acceptable.

Good evening Ralph
I saw it reported in the papers this week that only 0.3% of crimes were solved due to CCTV. just think how better our Police could have been if all that money had been spent on more Policeman? You
can understand why more and more people, even if wrong, believe the UK is becoming a Police State.
Got to admit, this did not inspire me either. I have seen many cases where CCTV evidence was not provided by the police at their own unqualified discretion and in total apathy towards the courts.
I saw a hoodie the other day: should I have hugged him or recommend he be sent to a prison ship? Actually, it's the first time I've seen one for a very long time; have they all abandoned hoodie-dom
out of fear of a DC hug?
The situtation with labour and civil liberties is bad
and may just be the iceberg which causes most damage.

UK is in the top five, still at least we are not as bad as north
Korea-yet.
Remember only 0.3% of solved crimes are due to the DNA database.

Well, it really should be that there are 'lies, damned lies, and the interpretation of statistics' - there's nothing wrong with statistics qua statistics.
Oh my god, you've got me agreeing with the tories. The DNA/RIPA thing is an absolute disgrace. What a nasty ad, you may as well just line up all the nutters, crooks and goons who have been Labour
Home Secs.
.....Of course the public post clips of the real world on You Tube - here is Braunston after £50 million of Labour's love care and attention.......

Broken Britain anyone?
I'm going to enjoy the election if Legz Akimbo have been commissioned to do all Labour's attack videos.
More!

Haha, that's a brilliant point Danny. Of course Labour's little mistakes do seem to keep cropping back, they just get peerages.
Hope you are well .
Is the post true? I want to know as it would show how our leadership thinks of voters .
danny
Is this true?

The guy who was carrying a gun will just get some 12yr old to hold it for them until they need to use it.
DNA database
Putting more and more of the population on the database just increases the number of false positives that you get when you run a search.
ID cards, SOCPA, RIPA etc - it's saddening that New Labour have managed to turn the Tories into the 'party of civil liberties'.
Quite right.
