Making it...Against the Odds: tune in for tonight's broadcast

Against The OddsBy Ellie Gellard / @BevaniteEllie

We made it! Our campaign to get Against the Odds to be the Labour Party’s next political broadcast has been recognised by Labour HQ and the nation will tonight have the chance to watch some of the party’s greatest achievements, boldly displayed in their living rooms in this new version:

What they will see, and hopefully recognise, is a Labour Party proud of what we’ve done in Government, what we fought for in Opposition and where we have stood on the most important issues that have divided this country for over a century.

This, new Party Political Broadcast (how exciting!) is different. It’s positive and it recognises that politics, despite the last year, is a wonderful tool for change; one which we, as a general public, dismiss at our peril.

What I love about Against the Odds, and why I began this campaign, was the fighting spirit it portrayed and provoked in so many who watched it. I hope that spirit is evident to the many who will now see it. The Labour Party has not given up; those who rely on a Labour government would never forgive us if we had.

I must say, in the least Paltrow-esque way possible, a massive thank you to Alastair Campbell, Kerry McCarthy and John Prescott for help with the campaign and all those at Labour HQ who listened. Fingers crossed it works...because it must.

The video will be shown tonight (Wednesday) at 5:55pm on BBC 2 and at 6:55pm on BBC1 and ITV1.

There's a Scottish Labour version, too!

"they said working people were not fit to govern...."

It would be nice to actually have some people in government who have worked!!! Not the current incomputent ex-student politikers and ex-parliamentary interns that currently make up the cabinet.

typical blulabour BS. lots of great achievments highlighted in the film problem is they were all by a real labour party donkeys years ago not this bunch of capitalists and their constant lies. still the rich have got richer and the poor poorer in the last 12 years which sums them up perfectly.

@Stephen Harman

Step 1. Look at how much extra money has been spent

Step 2. Look at the size of the debt we will be paying off for years and years to come

Step 3. Look at what was promised in 1997

Step 4. Look at the paltry "achievements" in your list. Many of which are highly debatable.

New Labour have been a very expensive mistake.

It is great to see how far we have come since 1997 in relation to improvements to the NHS, Education, Welfare, Minimum Wage, Maternity/Paternity leave, the EMA, increase disability allowances for the blind benefitting thousands of people by £1,500. One of the main points people should take from this film is that a lot has changed, just people seem forget or only raise points where we haven't got far enough. Why can't people just give some credit for the enormous good that we have done, maybe because they just don't like seeing labour doing well.

Quite simply, just as bad as the last version; same old inaccuracies, blurring of history and downright lies as have previously been explained.

I also enjoyed the bit with Obama. I find it endlessly amusing how GB loves him so unrequitedly.

Have you seen the latest mistakes that have been spotted on the vid?

Ooops.

Hi Labourlist

This is new Labour not Labour , Labour would never have attacked the most vunrable with the wellfare reforms that will cause a lot of distress to disabled people and there carers , We need a change of policy and i would suggest a honest one , We need to get rid of the torys on our front bench and we need to start to treat the voters with some respect , Until then our message will fall on deaf ears .
