While we were all watching the Murdoch’s select committee appearance this afternoon – and the actions of a pie-tossing fool – there was a significant volume of bad news being buried by the government.
So far, we’ve spotted:
– £1 billion of NHS services are to be offered up to competition, including provision of children’s wheelchairs
– The Yates/LLewellyn emails (already covered by Guido Fawkes), which suggests a desperation from No.10 not to avoid having the PM briefed
– Sandwell’s BSF projects (which made Tom Watson react like this) were cancelled during the phone hacking questions
– And a law on business rates has been changed that will hurt poorer councils.
Update: And the BBC are reporting that Neil Wallis may have “informally” worked with Andy Coulson while he was at CCHQ, pulling the government further into the crisis.
